Origins:
United Insurance Company Limited began
operations on January 1st, 1977 having
been incorporated in Bridgetown,
Barbados, on September 30th, 1976. The
new company amalgamated the former
agencies of The Royal Insurance Co., The
Guardian Royal Exchange and The Sun
Alliance. Barbados’ largest
conglomerate, BS&T (Barbados Shipping
and Trading), became the major
shareholder.
Growth and Service:
United Insurance has steadily grown over
our twenty-nine years as a company,
building on over a centurys expertise in
general insurance. It is a growth record
which has incorporated great attention
to detail, particularly claims service
and reinsurance protection. These two
key ingredients have resulted in superb
claims performance over our history and
especially our service record during
catastrophic hurricanes over the last
ten years.
